This trip is an
excellent combination of adventure and culture, enabling you to visit
not only some of the most important historical cities of Pakistan
but also the remote villages and nomad camps of Cholistan Desert.
This Desert covers an area of over 1600 sq kilometers extending into
the Thar Desert.
In
Cholistan one can experience the life of the nomads as you travel
on the camel back around the famous Derawar Fort built in the 9th
century AD by Prince of Jaisal Mir on the edge of the Cholistan
desert. Nights will be spent in the comfortable Mughal tents with
the facilities of 5 Star under the open desert sky and dinner will
be accompanied by local music and dances.
From
Derawar drive out of the desert to the historic city of Uch Sharif
through the rural landscape. Uch contains some of the most beautiful
tombs with blue glazed tile work reflecting a distinct influence
of central Asian architecture. During the 13th century, it was center
of Islamic learning and many famous scholars and saints buried here
in this small town visit the spectacular tombs of Bibi Jawindi and
Jalal-udin Surkh Bukhari with its beautiful glazed tile decoration
before proceeding to Multan.
Multan
has an ancient history and every invader who entered the Indian
subcontinent from Alexander to the Mughals and even the British
struggled for its control. Walk through its colorful bazaars and
visit the beautiful octagonal tombs of Bahauddin Zakria and Shah
Ruk-e-Alam.
